Challenge 12 inspiration is everywhere

This challenge was to find something...anything you could see s a card. I scoured my house, a few things caught my attention but I didn't get excited about any of them. Until i entered our spare room. My husbands great grandmother used to hand sew quilts and the last one she made, she made for him. It is currently in our spare room. I love the colors and the family aspect of it. I decided to use that as my inspiration and create a quilted background for a picture frame and add a saying. I can't wait to hang this up in the spare room to match the quilt. I used a stamp from the home sweet home set.

Challenge 10 wild one!

The challenge was to create something with an animal on it or animal print I decided to create a card for my grandparents. They do a ton of volunteer work for a local visually impaired school. Recently they held a dog a thon and raised a lot of money for the school. I am sending them a little card to let them know how much they are appreciated for what they do.

You can never go wrong with a thank you card

I recently invested in more of my favorite jaded blossom stamps and and a flag die. I've been itching to just sit down and play but I made myself wait until I was done rearranging my craft room. Pictures coming soon I promise.

Well here's what I rewarded my progress with :)

I used my new art philosophy cart to cut the shape card and the matching background. I chalked the edges of the background with 2 shades of brown. Then I used my new flag die from jaded blossom and added stitching. I then took a taupe rectangle and used the bottom of a decorative dress to add some design to the sentiment which the filagree and sentiment were also jaded blossom. I topped the background stamp off with some sand atyou spika glitter and added gems above the sentiment.

And a really exciting part I all this..I made all of this out of scraps!!! :) it's the simple thing in a crafters life that makes out hearts smile.

Enjoy!

Simple Sympathy Cards

I had an order for sympathy cards from my mom. She didn't want anything too heavy or deep so I kept it simple.  Not only simple with the sentements I used but I also tried to keep the actual card designs simple as well.  It was a little difficult not adding glitz and glam to each of these babies but I had to restrain myself and keep it like they were ordered.  These aren't anything to drool over but they're nice and will do the job my mom is asking for.

A new addition to the Hutchinson family

My brother and his girlfriend are expecting their first baby in August. Little Miss Paeton Marie. This weekend I'm headed down to California to help host a baby shower for them. I created invitations and cup cake toppers. This was my first project implement using my gypsy. In fact i'm sitting on the plane in portland with mu gypsy on mu lap I had 6 layers going. Granted I had to make 60 of these my 12x24 may came in handy.

The invite with the extra bling is a keepsake for them to put in her baby book. I can't wait to see this little bug and hold her tiny little fingers.

More cutting boards

Here are two more recent glass cutting boards I made. Since cricut doesn't have much of a selection for wine lovers, I had to get creative.

I used the cricut craftroom and wiling George and basic shapes formed a grape cluster. I used a leaf and scrolls from Ashlyn's alphabet. I used gypsy font for merry's name and brought it all together with a wine bottle and glass from summer in Paris.

The second one was very similar but on the bottle I added a label with Roxanne which is the name of the lady the gift was purchased for.

I hope you like them as much as I enjoy making them.

Let me know if you'd like a special order. They're just $20 plus shipping. :)

Miss Paeton Marie

I want to start off by apologizing for not posting anything on my page since April.  I guess I've been busier than I thought I was.  I promise to try and catch up in the next few days.

Some of you may have already heard but I am going to be an aunt in just a few weeks!!!  I am so excited I cannot stand it.  I have been passing the time by making projects.  The most recent one I've been working on is a banner for her room.  This is the first baby in out immediate family and my brother is as nervous as a first time dad could be.  It's pretty neat to see that delicate side of him come out when he starts to talk about his daughter.  :)  My brother and his fiance are going to be moving into a newly remodeled home, hopefully before Paeton decides to grace us with her presence but because it's so close at this time, they have not had a chance to decorate a room for her.  I thought a banner would be a nice piece to hang on the wall for instant decoration and not take much to do at all since they will have their hands full.  Angel, my soon to be sister-in-law loves detailed butterflies, and picked the colors purple and a mint/teal green for the baby's room.  I know this is a little more teal than she would have liked but it just made everything pop a little more.

I started off with a pearl shadow for the butterfly and layered the butterfly from car decals on top of it.  I cut the detailed part out on a snakeskin 12x12 page from DCWV Gone Wild.  The paper was perfect for what I was looking for, a deep purple with a glittery teal/green pattern.

Then I cut a shadow from cindy loo in 2 different sizes.  one on a teal green cardstock and the other on ivory.  The ivory one I chalked it with a light purple then edge chalked with a deeper purple.  Then I layered them together.  I cut the letters from a pearl deep purple from the shimmer DCWV paper stack.  Each letter I accented with 3 gems.  I used a new trick I learned to adhere the letters to the circles.  I created my own purple pop dots using my xyron machine and purple foam paper.  I love it because you would have been able to see some of the white pop dots before I learned this.  I just love the idea of it... and it's so much cheaper for the amount you can make.

I also cut 3/4 inch butterfly shadows that match the big ones, curled up the wings on both sides and added those to the circles with the letters.

I just love the way it came out!!
I cannot wait to see my little niece Miss Paeton Marie.
