Simple Thank You's

I created some simple thank you cards for a lady at work.  Her only request was... they were to be given to men.  Let me tell you, this was one of my hardest challenges.  lol.  When it's a card for a lady, you can take just about anything and add sparkles or gems to it and it'll be fantastic.  It was hard to keep a project simple and not girly.

It was however great timing since that day, my new Jaded Blossom stamps came in the mail.  I was so super excited about this release, I think it was my favorite to date.  I can't wait to use them again!!!
The polka dot paper is from DCWV Citrus Mat stack
I bordered the bottom of it with lime green ribbon
The Jaded Blossom stamps used were: Filigree from Wedding Wishes and Thanks from Teacher appreciation

The yellow card stock on this has a neat weathered look to it, it's also from the DCWV citrus stack.
The Thank you is cut from Tie the Knot cartridge on shimmer blue DCWV paper.  I lined the bottom with a lighter blue that is showing through and topped it off with a lovely twine bow in blue and green.

Relay for Life Thank You's

Relay for Life is a big part of my extra curricular activities this time of year.  I received a request for some thank you cards for a recent zumbathon that was hosted for a fundraiser.  It was a great success and a ton of fun.  Here are the cards I made for her to use.

This teams theme was The Magic of Hope and she wanted to make sure that was incorporated in the cards.

Hope they make you smile, I sure like them.

Happy Birthday Grandpa

My grandparents are very special people to me.  I have been wanting to make a tri-fold card lately and my grandpa Taylor's was a prefect excuse to make it happen.  My grandpa enjoys fishing, laughing, and telling stories.  This card ended up just perfect for him.

I used DCWV card stock for the main card from the Lodge Stack
The trees are rust colored metal embellishments
the tree line is cut from plaintin schoolbook cricut cart on shimmer green DCWV card stock
and the fishing pole is cut from Simply charmed, I strung it with clear string and added a red crystal but colored the bottom white to look like a bobber.

I love the way it turned out, I hope you like it too!

So fun!

Some of you may already have heard that my parent's drove up to Idaho from California to surprise me for my Birthday last weekend.  My mom and I spend close to 1/2 of their time here in my craft room.  Well, on Thrusday I had to work while they cruised around town and took in the sights.  I later found out that while I was at work, my mom took the liberty in exploring and playing in my craft room to creat me a birthday card.  I absolutley love it, it's one of my favorites and is hanging on my wall with the others.  She used all scraps which was even cooler to me!
She chalked the edges of the circle, she used my favorite jaded blossom stamps, and used the pop dots and even the martha stewart corner punches that I just got!  i love it, I hope you do too.  My mom's always said she doesn't have a crafty side to her... well all know that's not true and she's proven it now!

and here it is standing up.

I hope you like it, I enjoyed challenging myself.
I used every black/grey/white pen I own to color in the owl and it's all glittery.  I sure wish the picture showed the shine.  :)

Shadowbox Vows

A friend of mine got married in Hawaii last August and she asked if I could put together a shadowbox as a surprise for her husband with a section of their vows.  Of couse I was going to make that happen, I immediatley started thinking of ideas for it.  She gave me her vows and said she'd like the frame to be dark brown, and there to be a starfish so it matched a saying they have in the room this would hang.  I was off.

A little background about this wedding, it's kind of a tear jerker but it's priceless...
So, Beth and her, now husband, Jacob have been together for a little over 4 years and she has never been into frilly girly type things.  She's talked about wanting to get married but nothing traditional, she said her dream wedding would be on the beach in Hawaii with just the two of them.  They had planned a trip as just a vacation.  Beth had talked before they left that she would buy a dress to bring with them as a joke.  They were flying to Hawaii and heard a conversation of a couple behind them talking about how excited they were about getting married when they arrive in Hawaii.  Beth said at that point, she was just getting her hopes up.  She joked to Jacob about getting married while they were there and he shrugged it off.  Well, a few days into their trip, Jacob proposed to her on the rocks, overlooking the beach while they were fishing, she said it was perfect for what she had always imagined.  Well, it gets better... that was on Tuesday and Thursday morning they got married on the beach with just them.  She was in heaven.  It was all she'd ever dreamed of.  Her ring is gorgeous, he picked out a diamond with her favorite color.  And the pictures are pricesless, absolutley wonderful.

Ok, so here's the final product of what I came up with for her shadowbox.  I loved it, it was all I could do to hand it over to her.  She loved it and said that Jacob was surprised and loved it just as much.  I'm glad she was happy with it and that it was exactly what she was looking for.

This is the flower I made for the shadowbox.  I found the video tutorial on http://valitasfreshfolds.blogspot.com/  This lady does amazing work.  She sells some of her templates, I would highly suggest checking out her blog.  Just amazing.

I filled the box with 28 oz of sand from Michaels and picked out some sea shells that were unique from a bag of them I had purchased.  I added the starfish and the flower I made as a border for the vows.  I just fell in love with the words she chose.  I can only imagine how magical it was for her dream to come true.  I did have to seal the back with hot glue around where the sand sits so it didn't sift out as it settled.

Congratulations to Beth and Jacob - may you have many happy years ahead of you!

Jaded Blossom Monthly Challenge

Jaded Blossom is a new stamp company that specializes in favor stamps but they can also be used for cards and other items.  Check out their stamps here: http://jadedblossom.bigcartel.com/

This month they have challeneged us all to creat something using their cute valentines stamps.  I haven't made many cards recently so I thought I'd give it a shot.  I've been in love with this owl stamp since it came in the mail and I had the prefect excuse to use it today for this challenge.

I hope you like it.  I sure do!

Pink Paper is from DCWV Glitter Sweet Matstack and the rest is just red and white cardstock.  I did use my atyou spika glitter pens to color over the pink and red hearts to add glitter to them.  I also colored the owl's eyes and beak/feet with these lovely pens also.

Enjoy :)
