Desk Calendars

I have always had an eye on these yearly calendars that Jaded Blossom sells but I've never felt comfortable trying out some projects with them.  Well, this year, I stepped up and bought a handful from them and man am I glad I made that decision!

Earlier in the year while at JoAnne's I found 3x5 picture frames on clearance and they ended up being perfect for these desk calendars.

I cut patterned paper and put them in the space where the photo goes.  I adhered the calendars to the outside of the frame and there it was, a cute little desk calendar.  I sold these babies at my craft fairs this season with a pen and they went over well.  I look forward to making these again next year.

Real Princesses Don't Kiss Toads

This little girl I fell in love with as soon as I found her.  And so had everyone else who has seen her.  I grew up riding horses and I know first hand that my horse was my second love in life. (Because everyone knows a girls first love is her dad.) :)
OK, enough cheese.  lol.

She's in a 8x10 frame back by burlap.
This is one of the items for sale in my store if you wanted to take a peek :)

Jaded Blossom Guest Design Day

Hi All!!!

I'm here today guest designing for Jaded Blossom.
I just love everything that this company has.  From their dies to their stamps, all of their products can be used in a wide variety of ways.
I've recently been working with vinyl more and more and when I was creating some sport bottles for a recent fair I was at, I found this die and wanted to do something a little different from my norm.

I went through the Jaded Blossom Awareness Candies and found the Think Pink saying.
The cancer ribbon was from their Awareness Ribbon Die.
My favorite part of this die is that it's stackable.  The white background is the outer edge die and the hot pink is the insert.  I love that this die set has stitches that imprint onto it and add an extra touch of cuteness.

I'm looking forward to using more of their dies with vinyl in the future for sure!

New Sweatshirt LOVE

I had been trying to come up with a design so I could make a sweatshirt for my friend. I tried a few different designs until I finally came up with this one.  I LOVE it.  har har har.  I can't wait to have time to make one for myself too.

The second picture's a little blurry but I added an arrow down the left sleeve too.

Skeeter's Dog Bowl

I got this adorable ceramic dog bowl from celebrating homes for my best friend's puppy.  It was pretty great on it's own but I knew it had to be personalized and since I had the supplies, why not?!? using black vinyl, I cut out his name and a few doggy shapes.
She loved it.  Makes me smile when that happens :)

Kind Thanks

Ok, so I bought these brads when my husband and I took a trip to visit family in Missouri.  I have been wanting to use them since then but have not stepped outside of my paper and pop-dots box to try them out.  I recently sent a package to a friend of mine and came up with an idea I couldn't pass up.

I cut out these adorable 3-d flowers, chalked the edges with a color that accented the paper, and curled up the edges.  I stacked the layers together and held them with the brads.
I used the cuttlebug and small dots folder to make the background and of course found a perfect jaded blossom sentiment to use.

I don't typically re-make cards but this is one that I can use for many occasions.

Oh Dear, it's a shape card

I wanted to make something different for my husband's grandfather's Birthday card this year.  I always find it challenging to create cards for men.  It's hard to keep it simple with no stitching, gems, ribbon, etc.  I scanned through the Silhouette Store and found this cutie.

I think this is one of my favorites, I'll be making this card again in the future!

Happy Boss's Day!

This post is a month or so behind schedule but hey... better late than never :)

I created these cards for our team to sign and give to our team lead and manager at work.
They were both very simple to make and were loved by everyone.

For the first one, I used the jaded blossom flag dies and chalked all the edges then layered them.  I also used their boss's day sentiment.

The second card, I used my cuttlebug with embossing folders.  added some ribbon and some jaded blossom again.

I mustache you a question... sweatshirt

I was so excited to try heat transfer for the first time.  I had a few sheets of glitter HTV saved up and once I decided what to make, I went to work.

I kept it simple for my first project.  I bought a set of mustaches from the silhouette online store and cut them out with different colors.

I had a lot of fun making this, and Miss. Dani was so excited she was jumping up and down with excitement.  She was even more excited when I told her I made it and that no one else would have one like it.  :)  It's the little things that make little ones happy.

Oh so pretty centerpiece

A friend came to me for a special request.  Her parents were going to be renewing their vows and she wanted to make sure it was extra special for them.

She knew she wanted a centerpiece to use on the cake table and her requirements were: red, black, and white.  Hmmmmm, so many options to choose from!

We went through a few different ideas and finally landed on one that she fell in love with.  It was fun to yet again, step outside of that paper box and challenge myself.

She loved how it turned out and said that her mom was trilled and will be keeping it as a memento.

No more boring mail box for the Wells family

Finally - a year after we moved into our little paradise - our mail box no longer has the previous owner's names.  :)  Who would have thought updating a mail box would not be on my priority list for while.

Any-who... I went through quite a few images online and found one that I loved and knew it would be perfect for us.  I used the trace tool on Silhouette and here's the results of what we came up with.

Thank you card

Those of you who know where we live - there are trees everywhere!  As lovely as they are to look at, maintenance can be a bit of a pain.  We had a few that were leaning in towards our house and one leaning right over our shop.  A friend of ours works for a tree trimming company and offered to come out and take out the trees that were "threats"
This poor guy spent all day in trees, cutting out limbs and cutting entire trees down.  By the end of the day, he didn't want to walk any further than he needed to.  It was absolutely amazing to watch the process and how he made it look so simple.

I knew we wanted to thank him for what he did but let's be honest - it's so much easier to make a card for a girl and add some gems and faux stitching.  And a lot of the card ideas I come across, just don't seem fitting for a guy who works closely with a chainsaw all day.

Little did I know what a challenge it would be to me to not add that many accents to a card.  haha.
Challenge excepted!

I used the trace tool in silhouette after finding a royalty free clip art image of a tree trimmer and got to work.  here is the final product.  he even called to thank us for the thank you card because he liked it so much!

5 Days of Simple Cards - Day 5

It's Day 5!!  Today's the final day of my 5 days of simple cards

I had a rush rush moment at my house a few weeks back.  We were invited to a dinner to celebrate a month of birthdays, anniversaries, and retirements - I had a day to create 5 cards for these special people.

Luckily the Silhouette Store has some great card bases that I was able to use.

Here's the card for today:

Happy Birthday Mrs. Heidi!  Yet another dear friend of ours celebrating her special day.

This one didn't show well in the photo.  I cut the card base out of a textured lavender cardstock and the background out of a pearl white (looks yellow).  I added gems to the centers of the flowers.  This one I will be using again, turned out great.

Just because 5 days of simple cards is over, doesn't mean I won't be back with more fun... stay tuned :)

Happy Anniversary to Grandma and Grandpa Gale.  These two have a special place in my heart, and we are very fortunate to spend time with them.  Love you guys!

Happy Birthday Jimmy!  Our fellow Texan, what else belongs on a card for a Texan?  Of course a boot!  HA

Ladybug Centerpiece

Oh my gosh - talk about outside of my comfort zone - recently I have been asked to make products that are not paper based.  It has been fun experimenting outside of my box :)

For this project, some very dear friends of mine who are having a girl had a lady bug themed baby shower.  I was asked to make center pieces for their tables.  I searched high and low for ideas.  I knew I wanted to make something they could get use out of after the shower was over.

I came up with this idea for a diaper cake and found some images in the silhouette store to use as decoration.  I absolutely loved the way these came out and I had to share these babies.  har har har.

Happy Summer

Even though Summer is almost over, I had to make sure and get these adorable sticks out for sharing today.  I made them for a kiddo's last day of school and with it being such a busy summer, I dropped the ball and didn't post them.

Here's some very easy candy sticks I made using M&M's and some of my favorite Jaded Blossom Stamps.

Relay for LIfe

Every June Relay for Life becomes a big part of our community up here.

I was asked to make some thank you treats for a team of volunteers who helped out at the event this year.  Jaded Blossom has one of the best fight for a cure stamp sets that are always a perfect go to for this event.

Recipe::
1x8 bags from Jaded Blossom
Fight for a cure girly from Fight for a Cure stamp set with Jaded Blossom
Sentiment is from - you guessed it... Jaded Blossom's Fight for a cure stamp set
I colored this girly with BIC permanent markers and added gelly roller glitter pens
I filled the goodie bags with purple and white sixlets
I used a white gel pen to add stitching to the purple boarder
I tied it all together with purple and white twine

I just love how these turned out.
