Jaded Blossom Guest Designer

Today is a sad sad day for me... it is my last day as a guest designer here at Jaded Blossom. 
I have thoroughly enjoyed making projects and expanding my creative mind during this month.

I cannot thank the Jaded Blossom ladies enough for all of the encouragement and challenges they have given me this month.  I have reached out of my rectangle card making box and learned about some very cool tips and tricks by playing more with favors.  I am looking forward to all of they stamps they come out with in the future. 

Ok, enough sappy stuff, here's my project.

With all of the relay for life events happening around me lately, I can't help but think about all those effected by all the different kinds of cancer in the world.  I came across these pink swirled candy sticks and knew I was going to make something for relay.

I used the Awareness Ribbon die from Jaded Blossom and punched out the base with white cardstock and the insert using a pink country plaid.  I like Jaded Blossom dies so much because of the stitching that is punched out on the image.  I colored over the stitching with pink glitter pen.
I used the sentiment from Fight for a Cure and stamped it across the ribbon with my versafine black onyx ink.  I topped off the design using light pink jute and making a ribbon.

 

I hope you like my final project, it's a simple one but I know it has a great impact on those fighting and surviving any and all cancers.

Jaded Blossom Guest Designer

I am excited about this project today. 

I saw a personalized mason jar that I thought was the coolest idea ever, so I immediately got to work.

 

This jar is full of home made pomegranate jelly (the best there is)

I first painted the entire jar with silver acrylic paint

Once the paint dried, I used my versafine onyx black ink and inked just the bottom half of the pumpkin from Jaded Blossom's Thanksgiving Wishes stamp set.  I just love the swirls on this guy.

I took the outer rim of the jar off and stamped just the top edge of it with the same pumpkin stamp.

The top of the jar had to match but be elegant and after seeing what the pumpkin did to the side of the jar, I knew I had to reach for the Pattern Kisses stamp set and found the matching swirl design and circled the top. 

The center sentiment is from the Wedding Candies set.

 

I was so excited when I saw how it came out, and the sentiment was perfect for a homemade jelly. 

 

I did have to let the jar sit for about a week before the ink was dry against the acrylic paint.  I probably could have used a blow dryer on it if I needed it sooner.

Before I get started, I want to share with you something I found out during this project, and I was amazed.  In my paper stack, I had a "the paper studio" stack named adhesive simplicity. 

(For those of you who know me, you may not be surprised by this next statement but for those of you who don't know me, please don't let it change your opinion of me) HA. 

I thought to myself... what a weird name for a paper pad.  Who cares... it's cute!

So, I pulled out this pad to use on this project and for the life of me I could not figure out why the paper was so darn thick.... DUH... it's a giant sticker!  How stinkin' cool!!!  A stack of 60 pages of stickers that I can make into any design I want.  Yep, I'll be buying stock in this stuff!  You'll see why it ended up being absolutely perfect for this project.

 

 I had such a great time making this project!

These would be great little treats for your next scrap night.

 

To start with, I used the 3x4 bags from Jaded Blossom and filled them with some cute colorful twine.

The twine had a ugly brown paper holding it in the center so I covered it up using the Candy Charms & Banner die set.  I used the scalloped circle from this set.

From the Craft On stamp set, I stamped the sentiments on white card stock and adhered them to the scalloped circle.  Then, because the paper is adhesive, I just stuck it on top of the ugly brown paper.

Then, using the Fancy Topper Die I cut out the base from the adhesive paper. 

I took plain white cardstock and cut out the insert then chalked it with a plum ink.

On the insert after it was chalked, I used one of the banner dies from Candy Charms & Banner die set. Setting those next to each other, it added some additional layers of color.

The sentiment at the top and the one in the scalloped circle are both from the Craft On stamp set also. 

I chalked the edges of the sentiment and the scalloped circle with the same plum and used pop dots to adhere them.

The cool part of the paper you've been waiting for... I just folded the Fancy Topper Die cut out in half after it was put together, pulled the adhesive backing off and stuck it to the bag.  no tape needed.

Yeah, it doesn't take much to amuse me :)

Jaded Blossom - Guest Designer Today

Whoot Whoot!!! You haven't seen the last of me yet!
That's right, I'm back :)  for a few more days this month at least.

Today's project is for a wedding my husband and I are going to next month for some very dear friends of ours.
With everyone posting ideas through pintrest on what they want certain parts of their lives to be like, it was easy to get an idea that this wedding is going to be nothing but Pure Country. 
We just received our invitation a few days ago, and boy was I right on my guessing, the bride chose creams and tans for her base colors, she added burlap and a bright green for accents.  Her invitations were so cute, I can only imagine what the event will be like.

After I got married, I realized I had all these little trinkets I wanted to keep but had no one place to store them all safe and sound.

I bought these adorable burlap goodie bags and went to work.
Many of her posts on pintrest included mason jars for different parts of the event.  Good thing Jaded Blossom has a great one!!!

I inked heavy on the stamp since the burlap is course and I wanted the image to be clear. I used the Jar stamp from the Spread the Love set.
Then I used hearts from the Wedding Candies stamp set and just put a few in the jar.  They kind of look like fireflies too.
I went over the outside and some accents of the jar and around the hearts with lime green stickles.
and over the top of it all, I put their wedding date. 
I used the ribbon from her invitation to tie around the top of the bag. 

I plan on using this as the gift bag for part of their wedding present.

I hope you like it, I sure enjoyed making it.  and you can bet I'll be updating you on how amazing the wedding was when we get home.

Jaded Blossom Stamp Release Week - Day 5

Say What?!?  Today is the final day of Sneak Week here at Jaded Blossom. 
As sad as I am that it's the end of my guest design week, I am extremely excited to show you the final stamp set for today.

I have a good feeling, I'll be using this one a lot this summer!!!

How stinkin' cute right....  I know!!!

Ok, so my project is a fun one.

I took a glass hing closing jar and filled it with my favorite homemade BBQ spice rub.

Using a bandanna patterned paper from a Paper studio stack I cut it into a triangle

Then I took my scissors and cut tiny strips in the paper and curled them up to make it look like fringe.

Around the inside of the bandanna and across the top, i used a chocolate Jute twine to add some rustic look to it.  Tying it off at the top with a bow.

I used a brown cardstock and a scalloped circle punch which I topped off with a marbled tan paper and stamped the BBQ sentiment on it.

As soon as I saw this set, I knew exactly what I had to make!!  I can't wait to pass these out at our next BBQ for favors.

Jaded Blossom Stamp Release Week - Day 4

Yay! Day 4 - What a great day for yet another amazing release from Jaded Blossom

A lot of the ladies have already showcased their Treat Flag die projects.  It was hard to wait 4 whole days to be able to share mine but the wait is over!!!

Today's stamp set sneak is:

And for those of you who haven't yet seen the Treat Flag Die, here it is:



For my first project just using the Fish On stamp set

I used a 3x4 bag

I cut out a fish bowl from create a critter and decorated it

I used the Fancy Topper Die with a sand color for the background and a light blue for the insert

Before adhering the insert to the background of the Fancy Topper Die, I ran it through my cuttlebug with a big polka dot folder and chalked the edges with a aqua ink.

The sentiment I inked on a matching blue background and inked the edges with aqua as well.

I just loved the fish that are in this set so I took my 1 inch circle punch and stamped them in the middle.  I colored over the top with copic markers.

The bag is filled with Swedish fish, one in the front to make it look like it's swimming in the fish bowl and the others are lined up behind it.

My second project today, I also used Fish on but this is the project I used the Treat Flag on as well.

This project was so simple.

I took a Gusset Bag and cut out a rectangle to use as a background print.

I found these cute fishy marshmallows at Walgreen's and stuck a skewer through them so they stacked up.

I wrapped the top of the skewer with yellow and white twine.

The favor was topped off with the larger Treat Flag Die, I stamped the sentiment from Fish On and added the stitching color around the flag.



These were fun projects to make and both very simple.  I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did making them.

Jaded Blossom Stamp Release Week - Day 3

What?  It's already day 3???  This guest design week is going by way too quick.  I don't want to stop using these wonderful stamp sets.  But, I am so very excited for you to see all of the sets and hop with us on Friday.

This project ended up being my absolute favorite project.  In fact, I talked to my best friend about making them for favors for her wedding.  I can see this set will be used a lot in the future in my home!

This set, I used a Jaded Blossom gusset bag and filled it with graham crackers, chocolate, and 2 marshmallows.  I tied the bag with blue and white ribbon.

Using the curly label die, I stamped the sentiment on and chalked the edges with a blue ink.

 

To finish off the project, I tied the kit onto 2 sticks perfect for a party favor at a BBQ or outdoor wedding. 

 

I left this project at home while I went on vacation, something tells me my husband will be enjoying s'mores while I'm away and I'll come home to an empty gusset bag :)

 

 

This has to be one of my all time favorite projects.  I sure hope you like it.

Jaded Blossom Stamp Release Week - Day 2

Hi there, it's me again!!!

Day 2 of Jaded Blossom is a good one!!!

There are also 2 sets being released today.  I was told I only had to make one project, but let's be honest... there was no way I was going to be able to pick just one of these sets to make something with.  again... I love them both.

Here they are:

Here's my Father's Day project:

 

This project was super simply but what I liked about it was that my dad loves loves loves tootsie pops.  They are his favorite candy so as soon as I saw these candy stamps I knew what treat I would be using.

I took a bundle of tootsie pops and bundled them together using blue and white twine. 

I then took 6 strings off the bottom to make it look like balloon strings , I hair sprayed them and wrapped them around a pencil until they dried.

Using the candy stamps from the Father's Day set, I just simply stamped on white cardstock and punched them with a 1" round punch.

 

 

 

My Game Night project:



 

Using the 3x4 bags from Jaded Blossom, I cut a cute background piece measuring 2.75x3.75 and slid it right into the bag.

I then found these super adorable dice and filled the bag with colorful fun.

Using the Fancy Topper Die, I cut the base with black cardstock and the insert with the same paper as the sheet I slid into the bag behind the dice.

The sentiment is simply stamped on white cardstock and chalked with black around the edges.

I used my 1" punch again and stamped the dice from the set and colored over them with a pink copic marker.  I used a scalloped punch for the black background of the dice and added the white dots.

 

 

So, there you have it folks, 2 projects for one day.  2 great stamp sets for one day.

 

Tomorrow's another great set and I can't wait until you see what I've got in store for you. 

I am excited to also see what the rest of the team has created.  The projects have been pretty neat so far!

Jaded Blossom Stamp Release Week - Day 1

Hi there!!!

Today is the first day of the stamp releases this week for Jaded Blossom.  I absolutely love all of the sets this week but this one is one of my favorites.  A little secret, I'll probably say that for all of them.  t-he he.

Here are the the stamps for today:

The project I made today uses the Happy Summer stamp set.  I just love the little girl on here and the sayings are perfect for just about any occasion.

 

I used a simple rounded rectangle for the backing and white cardstock for the background.  I then stamped the girl using versa fine black ink and colored her in with copic markers. 

I finished off the girl with some yellow and white twine so she could be used as a book marker. 

I also made a matching tag to go with the bubbles as a cute party favor.

 

On a side note, the bubbles actually smell like strawberry ice cream and don't tell anyone but I blew bubbles like a little kid for at least 10 minutes the night I took these pictures.

 

This turned out to be one of my favorites projects.  Thank you for stopping by and I can't wait to share with you all week the rest of the releases and my projects that match.

Jaded blossom monthly challenge

Hi all!!

This week I get to be a guest designer for Jaded Blossom! I love all of their stamps, dies, and favor containers. And I want to start this week off by thanking them very much for picking me to make projects using their fabulous stamps. Thanks ladies!!

The challenge this month is a color challenge. I really like challenges because it makes you think outside of the box.

I made a card for this challenge.
I used a grey card stock for the base of the card
I used a DCWV cloud print cardstock for the background. The color of the sky is what I used for the light teal in the color challenge.
I used a dark red cardstock and cut out the fancy die and the flag die 2.
I also cut on white cardstock the center of the fancy die cut and a smaller flag die.
I cut the fancy die backing in half and stamped it with a special release stamp from jaded blossom.
I colored the bird with copic markers.
I chalked the edges of the flag die and the fancy with a chocolate brown ink.
I added white stitching around the flag die and fancy topper die.
The final step after adhering them with pop dots was to add gems.

I love how it turned out, I hope you do too!

All SVG Files that are used are from Ann of SVG Cutting Files.

Here is what I made:

I found this adorable candy light sabor that I just knew would be perfect for this hop.

I took a 2.25x10.5 inch piece of steel grey carstock

scored it at 6.5", 7.5", 8.5", and 9.5"

I folded at all the scores and cut a square in the middle of the next to last inch box.

Folding them one over the other to make a stand for this cute sabor.

I used the Jaded Blossom Flag Die flipping the die over after I cut it once to make a shorter flag for the top of this candy box.

I stamped the flag with the sentiment from the Candy Wars stamp set above, chalking the edges first with red and again with black.

Across the bottom of the box I used a scallop circle for backing and punched the sentiment from the Candy Wars set too.  

My favorite part... it lights up!
Sorry it's a little tilted, I had to take the pic while it was in a black box and just drop the camera in to get the best light effect. 

I sure like how it turned out, it was my fist attempt at a "from scratch" candy box.

Sympathy cards

It's never a joyful time when you have to make sympathy cards.
With that being said, I'll leave this post simple with just a recipe.
First card:
I used a chocolate backing and added a Tan and gold background from a DCWV stack
I tool sheer chocolate ribbon and folded it top to bottom on both sides of the card. In the center I used the tree from jaded blossom's simple sayings. The sentiment is also from jaded blossom.

Second card:
I used a grey base card stock and added a simple background from DCWV which already had the felt flowers in the corner. I then took grey here ribbon and cross crossed it at the top of the card. I topped that with solid grey ribbon an added a sentiment in the center of the ribbons.

We had a visitor at the Well's House

Ok, this is kind of a cool story.  Some of you know that I grew up in a small country town in California and about 7 years ago, my husband and I moved to North Idaho.  While growing up in California as a teenager needing some extra cash I spent a lot of time babysitting.  I spent many friday and Saturday nights at a home watching 3 boys and a cute little 3 year old girl. 

Fast forward 11 years....

That same family bought land about 45 minutes from us up here in Idaho and we've gotten back in touch.  It's amazing to see how much people have changed and grown.  To top it off, that cute little 3 year old girl is now a beautiful 14 year old teenager.  And, as fate may have it, she loves to craft!! Score!

Her name is also Sarah just so that no one is confused as they read through this post. 
Sarah came and spent the weekend at my house about a month ago.  We were going to stay up late, eat junk food, watch movies, and craft, craft, craft. 

As soon as she came over she said... guess what, I have homework.  and it's art homework...

My first thought... cool, I'll get to learn something too :)

This is what she made.  She traced her hand, drew lines and colored them in.  I was pretty shocked how it looks like there's a painted hand the same color as the lines sitting on that paper.  This is how her homework turned out when it was all done.  I thought it was pretty darn neat.

Miss Sarah had let me know before she came down to our house that she didn't know what Hobby Lobby was.  Man was she in for a shock.  I told her a little bit about it but words can't describe your first trip to a Hobby Lobby store.  This was our haul after we walked out 2 and 1/2 hours later.  We never hit the center isles and only made it around 2/3rds of the outside.  Needless to say, we needed a break.

Sarah had mentioned that she wanted to make a frame to put a picture of her and her friend in.  She found the glitter frame at Hobby Lobby and then we scavanged through the single sheet 12x12 papers until she found the perfect purple metallic she was looking for.  The zebra/tiger... just what every 14 year old loves at this point in their life :)  She was in love with how the frame turned out.

What's next... oh, I needed a break.  ha. 

Sarah decided she wanted to make a banner so while she was drawing stiching around the edges and coloring her end pennants, I decided to kick back and watch some silly tv with her.

Here's how her banner turned out.  I walked her though how to use the basics of my gypsy and she picked the pennat shapes and font.  we accidentally somehow cut the R out backwards but she thought it was the coolest addition ever.  perfect for me :)

The characters on the ends are a creature she named sniffle.  She created it herself, designed from scratch. 

This was another project she worked on.  She drew this cookie monster by hand.  I was so impressed with how it turned out.  She colored the cookie and the street sign then layered the background with different colors of blue cardstock.

The last project of the evening... or early morning... I can't remember which.  lol.  I think it was around 12:45am when we hit the hay finally.  She could have gone more but she had a volleyball tournament the next day she had to get at least a little sleep for.

This card she made for her mom.  She used a greeting farm image, colored with bic permanent markers.  I showed her how to use the spellbinders to cut the scalloped circle and chalk the edges.  She used the cuttlebug and the Jaded Blossom flag die for the sentiment backing.  the sentiment is also from Jaded Blossom.  She topped it all off with a gem in her bandana and some at youspica glitter pens for detail.

All in all, Sarah and I had a great time!  She was already talking about her next trip. 

I'd better start getting some rest now :)
