Memorial Day Fun...

My husband's grandma had been wanting to create these images she'd seen during her recent trip to Arizona.  She bought a book of how to paint rocks.  Sounds funny but it's actually quite impressive what you can create on just a plain ole rock.  Here's what I completed.  This is also my submission for the red, white, and blue challenge on PBD's community pages.

 Here's the rock...

and here's the final product...

I did have a bit of time left and I decided to make a little market.  I personalized it, Gale is the last name of my husband's grandparent's.

We're hoping to make a little town, maybe a church next - we did find a perfect rock for that.

How do you keep your paper sorted?

Since I'm still working on adding items to my crafting room, I always like to see how people have their's organized.  I just recently got a metal paper sorting shelf.  When I put it up at home, I decided to only keep one set of the paper shelves in it so I had the other part for storage.  I did of couse keep the other self incase my paper buying gets a little out of hand.  lol.  Comment and let me know how you store yours...

Relay for Life Fundraiser

My work has posted information regarding our local Relay for Life - Cancer never sleeps event.  Trying to think outside of the box on what I can do to raise funds for this, and of course use my cricut to enjoy crafting at the same time, I remembered I had seen cups that sold like crazy at another event I participated in.

And... it was perfect timimg to try out vinyl on my cricut machine.  I ended up getting the vinyl cheap from a sticker making company, I bought their scraps and purchased the cups with nothing on them.  here's what I made.  We're selling them for $10 each and 90% of the proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life.  I'm hoping these go, I was excited to make them, I'll be even more excited if I can't keep up with the orders.

If you're interested in donations, please e-mail me at creatingmyfavoritememories@yahoo.com and I'll be more than happy to help!

Painting - sure... why not!?!

My husband's boss had his granddaughter's over last weekend and they painted like most tween girls like to do.  He gave me a board that his oldest granddaughter had splatter painted and asked me to put my touch on it.  His only stipulation was that it had to go up and down lengthwise.  There's a special spot in the green house I want to put it he said.  He showed me where and as I walked through his green house, it became very apparent to me how much these grand children mean to him.  There are 3 painted signs with each girls name written on it and their height for this year, each of them painted a planter box in the color that corresponded with their height sign.  and to top off all the cuteness, all 3 of the girls planted sunflower seeds, the youngest with the smallest growing sunflowers, the middle with the average, and the oldest with the giant.  How sweet.  So after seeing this and knowing these girls and the other women in his life are important, we chatted about a few ideas and this was the final outcome...

Simple enough, I wrote papa's girls in fonts from ashlyn's alphabet outlined with silver 3-d puff paint.  With white 3-d puff paint around the border, I continuously wrote his wife, daughter, step-daughter, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter's names.

Thank you awards

I participated in some community service with my work this weekend and there were 2 little ones there who touched my heart.  They passed out water to over 30,000 runners and walkers during this year's Bloomsday event in Spokane, WA.  I wanted to give them something extra special so I decided to try out this new idea I've been itching to create.

The pink one says thank you around the flowers.  And each has a safety pin glued to the back so they can wear them if they so choose.

Cards cards and more cards

This weekend it was just me and my poochie hanging out at home and I had to take full advantage of this quiet time.  Here's what I created.
